Most of the traditional events in Halkidiki take place during Carnival and winter, and many on 15th of August and Agia Paraskevi's Day. Polygyros host the most famous carnival celebration, where apart from the usual parade the custom 'katsamaka' takes place, when the locals offer free food to the visitors and organise o big feast with traditional orchestras. Arnea hosts the Socrateia Festival, which include sports events and a traditional woven textile exhibition among others on 26th July. Fishing Festivals have a unique importance in many villages in Halkidiki, for instance the Sardine Festivals in the middle of July in Nea Moudania and Nea Roda, the Tuna Fishing in September at Neos Marmaras and the Anchovy Festival in 2nd August at Nea Skioni.

The incrising number of Cultural Festivals play an important role in Halkidiki's life and take place during summer, entertaining both locals and tourists. Cassandra's and Sani's Festival are the oldest and most organised ones, with a program rich in concerts, theatrical plays, films and art exhibitions.
